29.2.9. Ribbed V-Pulley

The ribbed V-pulley is a geometric entity defined by cylinders and frusta. It is typically used in conjunction with a ribbed V-belt. It contacts the defined contact nodes of a Ribbed V-belt

29.2.9.1. Modeling Options

The user can create a RibbedV pulley as follows.

  • Point, WithDialog

    • Point: Selects a point to define the center of the RibbedV pulley.

    • WithDialog: Modifies the property for the RibbedV pulley. The RibbedV pulley is created with clicking OK.

Figure 29.47 Ribbed V Pulley property page [Characteristic page]

The Ribbed V Pulley property page is shown in Figure 29.47. The parameters are explained below. In order to understand the geometry, refer to Dimension Information.

  • Inner Radius (Ri): Enters the inner radius of V pulley. The inner radius is larger than 0.

  • Radius (R): Enters the radius of V pulley. The radius is larger than Ri.

  • Outer Radius (Ro): Enters the outer radius of V pulley. The outer radius is larger than R.

  • Width (W): Enters the width of V pulley. The width is larger than 0.

  • Angle (A): Enters the angle of V pulley. The angle is larger than 0 and smaller 2*atan (W/(2*(R-Ri))). The bottom width of V pulley is W-2*(R-Ri)*tan (A/2). [Degree]

  • Assembled Radius: Enters the assembled radius of roller. The radius is larger than 0.

  • Pitch (Pb): Enters the pitch, Pb of ribbed V pulley.

  • Number of Groove: Enters the number of grooves.

  • Pulley Width (Wp): Enters the pulley width of V pulley. The pulley width is larger than W.

  • Full Search: If this is checked, all belt bodies are searched for the contact with the V pulley.

  • Partial Search: If this is checked, belt bodies within the given bounds are searched for the contact with the V pulley.

  • User Boundary: Enters the range of boundary.

Note

Ribbed V-Belt and Ribbed V-Pulley entities are not defined to be symmetrical along the normal axis, because the reference coordinate system is in the middle of first rib or groove (not the center rib or groove). If you want to assemble a Ribbed V-Belt or V-Pulley with other belt toolkit entities, move the Ribbed V-Belt & Ribbed V-Pulley along the normal axis to align them.
