Figure 27.1 Track_HM example

The high mobility tracked vehicle toolkit consists of frequently used bodies and force elements, track links, and the ground profile library. A tracked vehicle consists of chassis and track sub-systems. The bodies of the chassis system include sprocket, single wheel, double wheel, road arm. A track sub-system can have only track links and bushings. The track links are connected either by single or double pin bushing. Contacts between track links and the chassis bodies are automatically defined and contact compliance characteristics can be modified by a user. Track links of a track chain system are created by automatically duplicating a track link generated by the user. The track links are connected by a rubber bushing whose characteristics must be obtained prior to modeling a tracked vehicle. The ground profile either can be created in modeler or can be imported from a library of the standard profile files.

Step to run a Tracked Vehicle

  1. Model a vehicle system.

  2. Create a track link.

  3. Assemble the track chain system.

  4. Define a ground profile.

  5. Define contact parameters and output.

  6. Run the simulation.
