28.2.3. Double Flange

A body consisting of seven cylinders is created. The width and radius of the contact surface of the Double flange must be large enough for the track link to pass. Double flange is used as a track roller. The double flanges used as track rollers are installed to bear the vehicle weight. The double flanges are positioned to release a lateral trust while the vehicle is working.

28.2.3.1. Modeling Options

The user can create a double flange as follows.

  • Point, Distance

    • Point: Selects a point to define the center of the double flange.

    • Distance: Defines a distance of the double flange.

Figure 28.23 Double Flange property page [Characteristics page]

The Double Flange property page is shown in Figure 28.23. The parameters are explained below. In order to understand the geometry, refer to Dimension Information.

  • Hub Width (Wh): Enters the width of hub.

  • Hub and Inner Flange Width (Wif): Enters the width between inner flanges

  • Hub Inner Flange and Wheel Width (Ww): Enters the width between wheels

  • Total Width (Wt): Enters the total width for hub, inner flange, wheel and outer flange.

  • Hub Radius (Rh): Enters the radius of hub.

  • Inner Flange Radius (Rif): Enters the radius of inner flange.

  • Wheel Radius (Rw): Enters the radius of wheel.

  • Outer Flange Radius (Rof): Enters the radius of outer flange.

  • Full Search: All links are searched for contact.

  • Partial Search: Some links are searched for contact in some boundary. It is used to reduce total solving time.

  • User Boundary: Define the radius of neighbor range.

The double flange is in contacts with the track link in the three parts.

  • The top surface of track link - the wheel surface of double flange

  • The outer surface of track link - the outer flange of double flange

  • The inner surface of track link - the inner flange of double flange
