28.2.2. Single Flange

A body consists of five pieces of coaxial cylinder geometry. The width and radius of the contact surface of the single flange must be large enough for the track link to pass. The single flange is used as a track roller or a carrier roller. The single flange as track rollers is installed to bear the machine weight. The flange of the track roller improves straight drivability.

28.2.2.1. Modeling Options

The user can create a single flange as follows.

  • Point, Distance

    • Point: Selects a point to define the center of the single flange.

    • Distance: Defines a distance of the single flange.

Figure 28.19 Single Flange property page [Characteristics page]

The Single Flange property page is shown in Figure 28.19. The parameters are explained below. In order to understand the geometry, refer to Dimension Information.

  • Hub Width (Wh): Enters the width of hub.

  • Wheel and Hub Width (Ww): Enters the width between wheels.

  • Total Width (Wt): Enters the total width for Wheel, hub and flange.

  • Hub Radius (Rh): Enters the radius of hub.

  • Wheel Radius (Rw): Enters the radius of wheel.

  • Flange Radius (Rf): Enters the radius of flange.

  • Full Search: All links are searched for contact.

  • Partial Search: Some links are searched for contact in some boundary. It is used to reduce total solving time.

  • User Boundary: Define the radius of neighbor range.

The single flange is in contacts with the track link in the two parts.

  • The top surface of track link - the wheel surface of single flange

  • The outer surface of track link - the flange of single flange
