6.4.3.16. Cone To Cylinder

A Cone To Cylinder Contact generates a force between a cone and a cylinder.

  • The two cones must belong to each different body.

  • The contact force can be generated with not only linear or exponential but also nonlinear spline characteristics to the contact penetration and its velocity.

6.4.3.16.1. Modeling Options

In the case of Cone To Cylinder contact, a cone geometry type is supported for an action geometry and a cylinder geometry type is supported for a base geometry when creating.

  • Cylinder, Cone

    • Cylinder: Selects a cylinder to define a base cylinder.

    • Cone: Selects a cone to define an action cone.

  • Cylinder, MultiCone

    • Cylinder: Selects a cylinder to define a base cylinder.

    • MultiCone: Selects some cones to define action cones.

  • Cylinder, Cone, Cylinder, Cone

    • Cylinder: Selects a cylinder to define a base cylinder.

    • Cone: Selects a cone to define an action cone.

    • Cylinder: Selects a cylinder to define another base cylinder.

    • Cone: Selects a cone to define another action cone.

  • MultiCylinder, MultiCone

    • MultiCylinder: Selects some cylinders to define base cylinders.

    • MultiCone: Selects some cones to define action cones.

Figure 6.378 Properties of ConeToCylinder dialog box

  • Definition of The Base Cylinder

    • Entity Name: Defines the name of base cylinder. The base cone can be changed by clicking Gr in the Working Window.

    • First Radius: Shows the first radius of base cylinder.

    • Second Radius: Shows the second radius of base cylinder.

    • Height: Shows the height of base cylinder.

  • Definition of The Action Cone

    • Entity Name: Defines the name of action cone. The action cone can be changed by clicking Gr in the Working Window.

    • First Radius: Shows the first radius of action cone.

    • Second Radius: Shows the second radius of action cone.

    • Height: Shows the height of action cone.

  • Synchronize with Geometry

    • If this option is checked, First Radius, Second Radius and Height in contact properties are automatically defined with that of the specified graphics. (The default is checked.)

    • If this option is not checked, the user can modify the contact properties.

  • Force Display: Graphically displays the resultant force vector on the view window.
